Manufacturing consideration for plastic parts

In this module we focus on part cooling, design for ejections and introduce other moulding processes. This modulus has approximately 6 hrs of content on the following topics.

  • Mold filling consideration - Gating, orientation, pressure drops during filling etc.
  • Weld lines - types of weld lines, material, appearance.
  • Shrinkage and warpage - wall thickness variations, PVT curves, Linear shrinkage, etc
  • Cooling considerations.
  • Part ejection - draft angles, surface finish, undercuts & hole.
  • Calculating part release force.
  • Other injection processes - gas assisted, structural foam moulding, co-injection, compression moulding.
